Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the operators of Eefernal Fog (“we”, “us”, “our”) process personal data when you visit eefernal.cc (the “Website”), download our launcher, or contact us. We aim to follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR where they apply.

This page is provided for transparency. It is not formal legal advice. If you need advice for your own situation, consult a qualified professional.

1. Who is responsible?

The data controller for the Website is the Eefernal Fog project operating eefernal.cc. For privacy requests, contact us via our Discord community: discord.gg/9ef5DJVdA4.

2. What this Website does

The Website is a public information and download surface. It:

  • Shows announcements fetched from our CDN API
  • Links to the launcher download on our CDN
  • Links to third-party services (Discord, Ko-fi)
  • Stores your cookie consent choice locally in your browser

3. Personal data we may process

3.1 Technical and usage data

When you visit the Website or call our CDN/API, our hosting providers and content delivery infrastructure may automatically process technical data such as IP address, browser type, device/OS hints, request URL, timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP. This is typical server log / security processing.

3.2 Cookie and consent data

We store your cookie preferences in your browser (local storage) so we can respect accept / reject / customise choices. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

3.3 Communications

If you message us (for example on Discord), we process the content you send and your account identifiers on that platform as needed to respond.

3.4 What we do not intentionally collect on this Website

This Website does not run an account system, payment form, or newsletter signup. We do not ask you to submit your name, email, or payment details on eefernal.cc itself. Donations via Ko-fi and chat via Discord are handled by those services under their own policies.

4. Purposes and legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)

  • Operate and secure the Website and CDN — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the service available, preventing abuse, debugging outages.
  • Provide the launcher download and announcements — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): delivering the core service you request by visiting.
  • Remember cookie choices / optional cookies — consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for non-essential cookies and similar technologies; storing the consent record itself is necessary to comply with ePrivacy / consent requirements.
  • Respond to support or privacy requests — legitimate interests and, where applicable, legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)/(f)).

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Non-essential cookies and similar technologies are disabled by default until you consent. You can accept all, reject optional, or manage categories, and change your choice later via “Cookie settings” in the footer. See the Cookie Policy.

6. Recipients and third parties

Depending on how you use the site, data may be processed by:

  • Hosting / CDN providers that serve eefernal.cc and cdn.eefernal.cc (including infrastructure that may process server logs)
  • Discord if you join or message our community — Discord Privacy Policy
  • Ko-fi if you open donations — see Ko-fi Privacy Policy

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it for third-party advertising from this Website unless you later enable marketing cookies and we deploy such tools (none are active by default today).

7. International transfers

Our hosting, CDN, and linked platforms may process data in the EU/EEA, the UK, the United States, or other countries. Where GDPR requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards used by those providers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) and their published transfer mechanisms.

8. Retention

  • Server / CDN logs — retained only as long as needed for security, abuse prevention, and operations (typically a short rolling window set by the host/CDN, unless a longer period is required to investigate an incident).
  • Consent record — kept in your browser until you clear site data or update your choice.
  • Support messages — kept as long as needed to handle your request and any related follow-up.

9. Your rights

If GDPR / UK GDPR applies to you, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase data in certain cases
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Data portability where processing is based on consent or contract and is automated
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing)
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for example your local EU/EEA DPA, or the UK ICO)

To exercise these rights, contact us via Discord and describe your request. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We will respond within the timeframes required by law where applicable.

10. Children

The Website and related community are aimed at adults and older teens who play Dead by Daylight. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children where prohibited. If you believe a child has provided data to us inappropriately, contact us so we can delete it where required.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to a small community project (HTTPS, access controls on systems we operate, least-privilege habits). No method of transmission or storage is fully secure.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Website after an update means you should review the revised Policy.
